Learn MoreWhat we tell Irwindale owners
About 1,400 residents share this city with its quarries, and houses are usually lived in by their owners. A home built around 1985 likely has a factory unit, though older masonry exists too. We start by telling you which. The quarry land here has no history of major wildfire, though Fish burned in the hills above nearby Duarte in 2016. Santa Anas come down in fall and winter, and rain mostly arrives from November through March.
What We Look at First
Which type you have, then cap and flashing where the Santa Anas come through.
What Cannot Wait
A wind-shifted cap above a metal flue, a split flue section, a wet chase wall in the rainy months.
What Can Wait
Scuffs on a metal chase, old masonry that is stained but solid, a remote or log set on its last legs.
Next Door
We also go to Azusa, Monrovia, Baldwin Park.
